As of April 26, bauxite prices by specifications and region were as below: 520-560 yuan/mt for bauxite (Al/Si ratio of 5 and alumina content of 60%) in Shanxi; 500-550 yuan/mt for bauxite (Al/Si ratio of 5 and alumina content of 60%) in Henan; 350-410 yuan/mt for bauxite (Al/Si ratio of 5.5 and alumina content of 58%) in Guizhou; 320-335 yuan/mt for bauxite (Al/Si ratio of 6 and alumina content of 53%) in Guangxi. All were on self pick-up and excluding VAT basis.
There is no clear expectation for the production resumption in Henan and Shanxi, and some alumina refineries increased the use of imported ores. The domestic ore market in Shanxi and Henan was quiet, and prices remained stable in the week. The supply in Guangxi and Guizhou remained stable, with no severe supply shortage, and the overall prices remained stable.
According to SMM data on April 19, the total weekly bauxite arrivals at domestic ports was 2.7484 million mt, down 1.2684 million mt WoW; the weekly shipments of bauxite from Guinea's main ports was 2.3785 million mt, up 84,100 mt; the weekly shipments from Australia was 701,100 mt, down 448,800 mt.
Imported ore were mostly under long-term orders amid tight supply. As domestic ore in Henan and Shanxi have yet to resume, quotations of some imported bauxite were raised. However, the CIF price of imported ore remained stable amid sluggish market.
